Balls, balls, balls and more balls

If only we could make everything to do with everyday life a joke.  Our boys are so much happier if we’re having a joke and laughing all the time.

Families with boys are known to joke about their body parts.  I am the only girl in my family with not one, not two but 3 boys. I grew up hearing my brothers refer to their nuts and balls, smelling their stinky farts, so in a way it was preparing me to become a mother of boys.

Thinking about it, I can even remember our childhood neighbours, who had 3 little boys. They used to sing a cheeky little song about balls…

We often refer to our little boy bits as ‘balls’ ‘nuts’ or even ‘junk’. Calling them ‘balls’ eventually became quite embarrassing for their Daddy. He took our youngest (almost 5) to his indoor soccer class recently. The female instructor welcomed the mixed group of kids to the class and announced that they would be doing lots of work with their balls.  Our little guy didn’t skip a beat… he piped up and said “Balls! ha ha in our family when someone says balls we all laugh” then he started laughing!

The parents all burst out laughing. I could only imagine Hubby going red and doing a face palm. Luckily, as far as the rest of his team goes, the joke fell on deaf ears. Phew! Try explaining that one.

In hindsight, we probably should have kept referring to their ‘balls’ as ‘junk’.
